J pyro C. Does that 80 GB hard drive serve you well? I just upgraded mine yesterday from 120 to 250 GB. But I have a lot of music files, approx. 12,000.

@Klinkaroo
I wouldn't make any decisions on what to buy yet. There's a price war coming up between AMD and Intel in July and Core 2 (Conroe) will also launch then, so wait until end of July at the earliest to decide on what to get.

There has also been some rumours about AMD dumping the 1MB L2 cache processors and only sell ones with 512KB L2 cache, which would mean that there won't be a 3700+.

Besides, as DDR2 prices are coming down it will probably be cheaper to use DDR2 than DDR.

J pyro C.i have a question WHY DONT YOU REPLY TO MY POSTS????????you never do and i havent had one reply so far!!! and i waited 19 minutes and everything!

:thumbsup: Sorry, I couldn't resist!!! :flowers:

My main system:

AOpen AX4C Max II mobo

250 GB SATA hard drive

DVD/CD combo burner

CD burner

3.5" Floppy

1 Hot Swap drive (for swapping auxillary hard drives)

1 Drawer (Highly recommended!)

7.1 sound system

2 17" monitors

Micorosft ergonomic split keyboard

Microsoft wireless optical mouse

XP Pro w/SP2

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I originally had it set up with 4 80 GB SATA hard drives in a RAID 1+0 array.
Then changed it to 2 120 GB SATA hard drives in a RAID 1 array.
Now just one plain old everyday 250 GB SATA hard drive. It looks kind of lonely in there!
The price keeps coming down on hard ware such as hard drives. Just a couple of years ago it cost about $1 per GB of storage. Now you can buy a 250 GB hdd for $80 USD. The price will only go down by the end of summer!
Its not finished yet, nothing fancy, just a low budget system to keep me busy. Somehow it never stays that way. :inlove:
Windows XP home or pro - havent decided yet, not that it really matters lol
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (2GHz)
Epox 8KMM3I
Micron 512mb 266MHz DDR (another 512 stick to be added in the future)
ummm....just the 32mb onboard graphics ( :thumbsup: ) since i really have no use for a video card
100GB Maxtor SATA Ultra Series 7200rpm
No DVD drive yet, hoping for a DVD +/- RW
Onboard Audio, I want to put a Soundblaster X-FI XtremeMusic in if theres room for another card
Iomega Zip 250 drive
Floppy Drive
Linksys Wireless-G card
Logitech X-530 5.1 Speakers + Sub (currently a 3.1 setup--the center and left rear speaker somehow disappeared :cool: )
Misc. other items just sitting around like the monitor (17") and a printer, keyboard, mouse, etc.....
Hoping for a custom watercooling setup, involving an electric fan from a truck (2500+ cfm!!!!!!!!!!) and a radiator from a home A/C system. :flowers: :trumpet:
Heres mine.
Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz LGA775 - with HT..dunno the FSB/L2 Cache..
1280mb DDR RAM
XFX 6800XT 256mb GDDR3 Video Card
and thats about all i have/remember... Hoping to upgrade soon. By the way. Is it worth it to get a new PC now? Or should i wait til the new stuff designed specifically for Vista comes out.. I'm planning on getting an AMD Duel Core 4400+ with 2gb RAM and an 7800GT or something but i want to wait til vista...ESPECIALLY since i'd have to get Windows XP Pro 64 bit edition if i got new PC, and because the vid card isnt Windows Vista designed, like it doesnt have DX10 on it...I know it would WORK but i want it to own.
At least wait until the end of July before buying anything. You definitely don't need to, nor should you get Windows XP Pro 64-bit edition. AMD has stopped manufacturing the 4400+ so I doubt you will find one, you'll either have to go up to the 4600+ or down to the 4200+.
