I have been using Google Chrome for at least two years.  About two months ago I started getting in window message, when I did a search saying Chrome , something like, not responding either wait or cancel.  At times, when I waited it would not do anything.  About this time I lost the ability to print anything that I obtained from Google Chrome including e-mails.

I decided to uninstall Chrome and then I would reinstall it.  When I went to uninstall it started to get hung up and just did nothing.  I then let my computer run thinking that it is just taking a long time.  I actually forgot about it and went back the next day.  It said that it was still uninstalling and to wait.  I tried a couple more times to go back in and uninstall it and it blanked out the uninstall line.

I then figured, well, I would install a new setup over this.  It wouldn't let me do this either.

I now have Chrome on my c drive, can't uninstall it, can't put a new copy over it and can't get into it.  When I try nothing happens.

What do I do???  Please note, my computer literacy is not great.

Thank you

Welcome,

Is your ONLY problem with Chrome?

This is important as the solutions might be very different if there are other problems to be addressed.

Keep us posted

Use IE to download Chrome AGAIN. At best, your Chrome will work again, but if it doesn't, use Firefox.

You might try this

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/revo-uninstaller/

to do the clean up. Careful because if it can see it,it can remove it

Keep us posted

Hi Dick,

I ran the Revo program and it took a couple of hours and said it uninstalled the program.  When I went back into my programs it was still sitting there as if it wasn't unistalled.  What is happening?

Also, I notice that you are interested in Law Enforcement.  Are you retired from there?  I was not in law enforcement but in my retirement am volunteering at my l9ocal LASD Sheriff station.

Steve,

If you have not already done so, reboot and see if it goes away.

I'm still employed as a civilian with our police department. A bit less stressful than your area. :thumbup2:

It's possible that only the icon is still present. However if it took 2 hours I'd be willing to bet there's still another problem.

What KingdomSeeker said is right carard, when you say "When I went back into my programs it was still sitting there as if it wasn't unistalled.", what is "my programs" for you? The uninstall program list of the Control Panel, it's folder in Program Files (x86)? We need more precision on the location of that "my programs". If you go in C:\Program Files (x86), do you see a Google folder? If so, what does it contains?

Rebooted my computer and it appears that Revo Uninstaller did the job.  Chrome was deleted and I have reinstalled it and all appears to be working.

I thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy New Year.

Revo Uninstaller will specify when it needs a reboot to delete a certain program, I guess you overlooked that message when using it :P
None the less, glad to see that this issue was solved. Good job to dicke for the Revo Uninstaller tip :)
