wiping computer clean

I need help my brother gave me a Dell desktop and I need to clean it out so it runs well can anyone help guide me through how to do so ?

The easy, general answer would be:  Use the factory restore mechanixm built into the system by Dell.


After restoring the system to factory defaults, then remove all of the junk software which Dell installed for unknowing users.


Or...simply purchase a valid license for whatever version of Windows you wish...and then do a clean install, wiping out everything Dell has done.
