I have had my computer now for going on probably 3 years. Recently is has begun shutting off in the middle of usage and now it wont stay on at all unless it is plugged in with the charger. If I try to turn it on without it being plugged in it will last anywhere from shutting down immediately or several minutes. And it shuts down automatically if anyone plays music or tries to play a video of any kind. I don't have the money to take it in right now, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what could be the problem?

I assume this is a laptop. It sounds like a dead battery. After a while the cells inside the lithium batteries just don't hold anymore charge. Best bet would be to just buy a new battery. Most times you can find them on e-bay for about $15-$25.
