a few days ago, my gaming rig was unable to access the internet. it said it was connected, but I could not access anything. I tried to going to google, but it said 'cannot display webpage'. I heard that avast antivirus would sometimes cause problems with internet, so I removed that; but I still could not access the internet. I checked the lan properties, and it said ipv4 was connected but ipv6 was limited. is it possible that my pc is infected?

Welcome to BC!

Here's a BC tool that has numerous Windows mini-fixes, many of which are for connectivity issues. Give it a try ... http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/windows-repair-all-in-one/ .
