My computer recently had numerous files, folders and pictures go missing. I can not seem to locate them anywhere. I ran malware and adaware and found the log below. I also ran ATTRIB -H *.* /S /D in CMD prompt as administrator and found Access Denied on almost everything including Access denied C:\Users and Access denied C:\Windows

I am not sure what is going on but would really appreciate any help you could provide. I hope I followed the forum rules correctly. If not please let me know. Thank You.

There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/

  • Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
  • If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.

  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • Do not reboot until instructed.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.

When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.
Post it in your next reply.

NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

NOTE Do NOT wrap your logs in "quote" or "code" brackets.

p22002970.gif Update Adobe Flash Player: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Make sure you UN-check Yes, install McAfee Security Scan Plus

NOTE 1: Beginning with Adobe Flash Version 11.3, the universal installer includes the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Flash Player.
NOTE 2: While installing make sure you UN-check any extra garbage which wants to install alongside.

I had the latest version of firefox installed and updated adobe flash. The files still seem to be missing. Not sure if my settings are mismarked for hidden files. I also recently used a external sony flash card reader to download pictures to the computer and then to from the computer to a segate external harddrive. I know that sometimes that can cause hidden issues. Do you think that is where my problem may be? Thank you again for your help.

Unfortunately there is not much more I can do here.

Someone possibly moved/deleted those files.

Did you try to search for them?
