Hello, I was instructed by one of the Administrators to repost this post here which was from my original thread seeking help:

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hello Boopme, still seeing some stuff..

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
  OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.11
  Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
  BCCode: a
  BCP1: DE629929
  BCP2: 00000002
  BCP3: 00000000
  BCP4: 82C72ABA
  OS Version: 6_1_7600
  Service Pack: 0_0
  Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
  C:\Windows\Minidump\120614-44756-01.dmp
  C:\Users\Michael\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-87142-0.sysdata.xml
---------------------

ALSO...

While already logged into gmail in Opera, the screen changes to the following link asking me to log in.  It's noticeable to me that the login username is "smart+passive" which is an old start up page I had set in Internet Explorer, which I basically never use.  (I also just opened IE and there's some strange small link opening automatically as the home page which contains "linkid" and before I can read it reverts to one that contains "ocid" which appears to be a reference to an id in my geography "OC> Ocean City".   Here's the link that gmail switches to in Opera:

In "Services" I noticed that:

Remote Procedure Call Properties has an account.  This Account: Network Service.  Password:  **************  Confirm Password:  *************

I have no idea what or who this could be.

Also, the properties are grayed out for this service, so I can't change it.

To be honest...the errors reflected by the data above don't indicate a real problem, IMO.

It appears to me that you do not have critical updates installed which have been issued.

Your topic indicates browser issues...but not a single EV error points to such.  While you seem to think there are "issues", Windows does not share that perspective.

Ok thank you Louis, sounds like that might be the case, I'd like to double check a couple things over next few days after a clean boot and come back to you on this.  Just to make sure.. I'm assuming that you had a chance to check out my original post as well right?

Actually for now, a common problem in Opera is that the few extensions I'm running related to (clearing history, cache, cookies) keep getting cleared out.

What do you think about an old IE page's keyword's were appearing in an Opera link name while I am logged into gmail?  I'd be logged into gmail's inbox for 10 mins or whatever and then I'd clear cookies with an Opera extension (when it would be there) and then the page redirects to a gmail login page that has the following link:

https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&continue=https://mail.google.com/mail/?pli%3D1&scc=1&ltmpl=default&ltmplcache=2&emr=1#inbox

(or sometimes the keyword would be "smart" and "passive".  I used to have (or still had) the home page of IE set to a web site called Smartpassiveincome.com )  Is this and the extensions disappearing, and I believe I listed in my post somewhere that I saw an API set up somewhere, not odd to you?  (Maybe Speccy isn't listing it, is that possible?)

Also, what I'd really like to do in the big picture, is to take the time once to get my settings perfect (auto start Services, bookmarks, apps, etc) in terms of like everything on the machine, and just do a clean boot every day, and then find an application that will somewhat quickly set everything to all of the saved preferred settings.  Is there a program that a lot of users here like to use to accomplish this?

Similarly, where are the instructions on the site here that can walk me through how to completely uninstall all traces of IE, the way that Revo thoroughly uninstalls apps?

Lastly, the same for Google update, it seems to have too much authority over things.

Almost forgot, the Speccy tool or one of the others found a lot of things related to Microsoft Office, but I don't even used Microsoft Office and used Revo to thoroughly uninstall all of the preloaded Office software (trial, many language packs, etc).  I use OpenOffice.org (open source freeware apps) for documents.

There are 3 typical mechanisms that may answer your first question...Windows System Restore, cloning or backing up the Windows partition, and using a recovery disk/mechanism if such is provided by the system manufacturer.

IE is a core part of every Windows version...AFAIK, you can never completely remove it from Windows.But...take a look at http://www.wikihow.com/Uninstall-Internet-Explorer-Completely .

Google Update is something that you installed...removal should be Add/Remove Programs equivalent in Win 7.  I suppose that it may be installed along with all other browser add-ons but it still should be listed as an installed program....and uninstalled in the manner stated previously.

Well...I won't say that Speccy does not make a mistake...but I'd be willing to bet that there are still remnants of MS Office on your system.  You might reinstall and uninstall it again, using the Add/Remove Programs equivalent in Win 7.

Excellent Louis, thank you.  Regarding the uninstalling of Office, are you saying you prefer to use the Add/Remove option in Control Panel (which I do see here in Windows 7 Starter), as opposed to Revo which I was under the impression can delete more traces, or are they generally equal?

I am trying to add a Microsoft bluetooth mouse right now and received the following message.. is there somewhere within the site to understand the following error code and how to remedy or should I ring Microsoft?:

Adding the device failed, unknown error.  Reported error code:  0x80070015

Of course, I prefer using the Windows tool for uninstalling programs...I only install 3d-party programs to do Windows functions...when something prevents the Windows tool from doing its job properly or the 3d-party provides new capability.  When a program doesn't uninstall properly...it's (IMO) due to the fact that the program developer wrote a sloppy uninstall routine...all Windows does is use that supplied routine.  So, if a user has a problem uninstalling a program...the blame for such belongs to the developer of said program.  Which is why some AV developers have come up with install programs for their troublesome products.

Uninstallers of all kinds purport to be capable of detecting all files installed by a program and then being able to remove such, in spite of a bad uninstall routine supplied by program developers.  My experience is that sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.  Revo is one of the more widely used uninstallers.

I ran Microsoft Fixit.  "Automatically Fix Windows Security Settings to Keep Your PC Safe"... It fixed "Policy settings", and fixed (disabled) "Remote Registry".  Does this tell you anything.

I also ran the same tools for IE fixes but I already forgot what it did, I'm trying to find a log.

I just downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials.  It installed, checked and received updates, then suddenly I got this error message in a Windows notify box:

"An error has occured in the program during initialization.  If this program continues please contact your system administrator.  Error code:  0x80070002 "

...and then I was just about to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Security Essentials, but it's not listed in the Control Panel as a program.

Revo is also not listing it.  Is there a different way to uninstall it?

UPDATE:  The error appears to be related to prior security software, which in this case appears to be the Trend Micro free trial that came with the machine.  I did a clean boot and then uninstalled it with Revo, but at the end hit the back button to check something, and I think I might have possibly messed it up tp where some traces were left on the machine, and now with that error looks like that's what happened.  I am going to download Trend Micro's current free trial then uninstall and then see if Microsoft Security Essentials shows up in the system tray or in the list of installed programs.

______

Funny thing also, what I did notice in Control Panel's Uninstaller is a program called "Internet Explorer (Enable DEP)".  The icon is not the large blue "e" but rather a little white executable looking box if that description makes sense.

______

I keep getting a banner at the top in Opera "Would you like to make Opera your default browser?"  even though I checked earlier, and clicked "Yes", when this happened and Opera already was/is the default browser.

I reinstalled Trend Micro then uninstalled, and still the error code.  Then I downloaded Windows Service Pack 1 which was recommended update in Windows Update and same error code.

_______

Then I tried to run Rootkit Revealer and it couldn't install, got a Windows box error:

Unable to install Roorkit Revealer Service.  The service did not respond in a timely fashion.

_______

Similarly I tried to uninstall Asus Web Storage which came with the machine but got the Windows box error:

(Yellow exclamation point) File locking.  Please restart your computer and uninstall again.
