Please download and run who crashed (Posted instructions at the bottom)

Was your Vertex drive new? I see it has had some reallocated blocks, this is somewhat normal for ssd's after a fair number of writes:

05
Attribute name: Retired Block Count
Real value: 6
Current: 100
Worst: 100
Threshold: 3
Raw Value: 0000000006
Status: Good

That said, I have had nothing but bad luck with OCZ especially the vertex drives. This could be a drive issue but for now I will wait to see the Who Crashed report:

We need to analyze your operating system's crash dump files to further diagnose what could possibly be crashing your computer system.

Please download Who Crashed? and save it to your desktop.

Double click whocrashedSetup.exe and choose Run

On Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 machines, when User Account Control asks if you wish to install this program, say YES to install the program on your computer.

Program can also be installed by right click and choosing Run As An Administrator.

On the next screen choose Next and accept the agreement.

Install the program in it's default location C:\Program Files\WhoCrashed (If your primary drive is different from C:, choose your primary drive.)

Choose Next and allow program to create a Start Menu Folder called WhoCrashed and click Next.

Allow program to create desktop icon and click Next.

Now Click Install.

Once the program is installed on your computer system, look for the WhoCrashed icon.png desktop Icon and double click it.

Accept the User Account Control request and the program will open on your screen and should look something like this.

whocrashed.png

Next, Click the Analyze button. analyze.png

An Information Window should appear on your screen prompting you to scroll down your screen.

If a report was generated we would like to have a look at this report.

To do this, click File analyze.png and then choose Export.

Save as WhoCrashedOutput.htm to your desktop.

Open WhoCrashedOutput.htm and copy and paste all of the contents from System Information (local) and Crash Dump Analysis and the Conclusion into your next reply.

If I am helping you with a problem and I have not responded within 48 hours please send me a PM.

Conclusion

5 crash dumps have been found and analyzed.
Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

Did you do a fresh instal of windows 8? Double check that all of your drivers for chipset are installed correctly, if they are check online for more recent "updated" drivers directly from asus's website for your specific motherboard.

Download and run Memtest86+, run the test for at least 3 passes, let me know if there are any red error code lines: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

** Memtest86+ V5.01 (27/09/2013)** Any of these versions should work:

If there are error codes in memtest (red lines with some code) if you can take a photo that would be great, or just type up a few of those codes here (all of the data in 1 or 2 lines).

Also if there are red error code lines, let me know your ram installation specs such as: exactly what size stick is in which slot, 0,1,2,3.

One more thing: speccy reported your ram was single channel, do you have the ram installed next to each other or spaced apart? Is this just 1 16gb stick?

See the link below for correct installation, that or use your motherboard manual (I would recommend the manual).

I looked at your manual, for dual channel with 2 sticks you would want to install the ram in both red slots. For a single stick, it would go in slot A2 which is the red slot closest to the cpu.

FYI, this particular BSOD can be very, very tricky to diagnose... I forgot to ask if this happened when doing specific tasks such as gaming, etc? Or is it completely random?

Sometimes heat can cause an issue, you might monitor your temps with HWmonitor, a screen shot of that after running for a few hours might help here. HIgh cpu temps frequently cause this issue.

The ram should be in the 2 red slots for dual channel mode, the slots are 1 and 3, or A2,B2. Dual channel is faster than single channel. I would say your ram is ok. The next thing you can try is prime95, I would let it run for about an hour. Your cpu will be running at 100% so watch your temps to make sure it doesn't overheat. Generally it will level off temp wise after about 10 minutes or so.

Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10 crash dumps have been found and analyzed.
