windows 8.1 won't boot in safe mode

I can't get windows 8.1 to boot in safe mode. I can't tell if my PC is infected with malware or if my hard drive is dying

Thought someone would have jumped in by now.There is a tutorial on this sight on how to do it.Windows8.1

won't boot in to safe mode out of the box with the f8 key.Don't know if that's what you mean but try the tutorial.
