These are tools to investigate running processes, programs that run at startup, services and gather additional information to identify them or resolve problems:

Alternative Replacements for Windows Task Manager:NOTE: Process Hacker, System Explorer, Process Explorer and AnVir Task Manager Free allow you to right-click on a process and submit it to Jotti's virusscan, VirusTotal, or Camas Comodo for analysis.

Actually I use zipped versions of them all since they do not require any installation. Each offers various features and are useful for comparing the information provided.

- AnVir TaskManager Free will allow you to replace Windows Task Manager under Options > Properties.
- System Explorer will allow you to set it as the default Task Manager under Options > General tab.
- Process Explorer will allow you to replace Task Manager under Options.
- Process Hacker will allow you to replace Task Manager under Options > Advanced tab.
- MiTeC Task Manager will allow you to replace Task Manager by clicking the Task Manager Deluxe drop down box at the top.
