AdwCleaner v4.1.0.3 does not work on WindowsXP SP3.

It get a fatal error in Line 2057.

Error: Variable must be of type "Object".

Is there a work around available?

I left a note for the developer.

If you are running AdwCleaner due to issues with your browser/computer...there are other tools which can be used. If you need individual assistance with malware infection, you should start a new topic in the Am I infected? What do I do? forum

More information is needed...the line number is not enough data.

When do you see the error messages? After running the tool, after scanning or deleting?

Hello TerryEM:

After reading your post, I ran AdwCleaner v4.103 on two XP systems kept going only for client support purposes.

In both cases, the AdwCleaner application itself ran error free and also found nothing at all to clean on each of the XP Pro and XP Home systems where both are x86 32-bit SP3 systems.

Knowing this, I hope this will help you in some small manner while troubleshooting your own system.

With respect and good wishes to you.

The error appears during initialization after clicking "I Agree".

The main window never appears.

Thanks, 1PW.  It is interesting to note that AdwCleaner runs on some XP systems, but gets an error during initialization on other XP systems.  This effect may have something to do with the version of Visual Basic or Java that is installed.

Who knows what language was used to program AdwCleaner?

Update:  I downloaded v4.104 today and it runs correctly.  Apparently the developer has corrected the problem.  Thank you!!

If you answer my questions in Post #3, I will pass that info onto the developer.

I did answer your questions in the post above at 6:18pm, quietman7....

The error appears during initialization after clicking "I Agree".

   The main window never appears.

Also, I noted there that the error message is no longer coming out effective with today's version.

Thanks,

Terry

I missed that. I will provide that info to the developer and let him know the errors are no longer occurring.
