Attempting to repair a hanging windows explorer problem, chkdsk /r scabbed was ran with no problems reported..

SFC /SCANNOW command was initiated  to determine if a corrupted  file was causing the problem.  The program hanged at 28% into the verification phase. Error messages displayed was "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation".

Safe Mode boot gave the same reults.

What would be a follow up to solve this problem.????.

Well...sfc scannow can only repair/repair missing/damaged system files, if the files are stored/available.  It cannot necessarily overcome malware, it cannot overcome a failing hard drive.

I would run the long hard rive diagnostic test on the drive, following Seagate instructions for doing so.

Hello Bobby,

Lets take a look as to why SFC is failing.

Convert CBS.log to CBS.txt

  • Click on the Win7Orb_zps4dae3b32.jpg button => Inside the search box copy and paste the following command:
    cmd /c copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • Press Enter
  • Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive

Just open the text file...copy the entire content...paste it into your next post.
