I can not download anything through IE 11. After cleaning up computer from infections, computer runs fine. the only problem is that IE11 won't download any program or file.I can download through any other browser. I don't get the pop-up to save file to any location. Tried to do a reset of IE 11. still nothing.may need some help on registry tweaks. can anyone help? win 7 64bit

Try uninstalling IE11 which will roll you back to IE10. Then see if you can download something. If so, reinstall IE11 and see if that solves the problem. But I should tell you that a lot of users have had trouble with IE11 and use IE10. And a lot of us don't use IE at all. I haven't used it for years. So if other browsers work, I'm not sure why anyone would insist on using IE.

I have tried to roll back to IE 10 but it won't let me. says I have the newest version installed. also tried to reinstall IE 11 just won't let me. I disabled EI altogether and inabled it and still does the same thing. I don't use IE myself, but thought I would try to fix this little problem. read online about some registry tweaks that might help, just didn't understand how to do them. Thanks for the help

See if turning off Enhanced Protected Mode works. See option one here.

In the upcoming Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008R2, the only thing that enabling Enhanced Protected Mode does is turn on 64bit Content Processes

That means your current profile is corrupted.

Here is a Microsoft page on fixing a corrupt profile. Your username will be different. You can change your login name but the User name in C:\Users will be the name of the new profile created. See this page on changing the user name. It involves editing the registry so if you are not comfortable doing it, leave the name alone and just change the login name in User Accounts in Control Panel.
