My budget for the new computer is: up to about $800, but if I can get something good enough for cheaper that would be great

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)? email, browsing, programming, graphics

What software do you intend on using on the computer? firefox (with lots of tabs!), chrome, MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Sublime Text 2, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign, probably a couple of other small apps

Do you play games? If so, what type of games? Not much

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it? Lots of programs open at a time

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer? 15-20 gb

Will you be overclocking? no

Location for online shopping/shipment/prices? yes

How many monitors are you planning to use? laptop screen plus extra monitor

Do you need peripherals? OS? I have peripherals. I'd like Windows 8.1, even better if it comes with a free upgrade to Windows 10

Any particular reason why you are upgrading?
current (windows 8.1) laptop is a couple years old, freezes all the time and is altogether slow.

I'll pick the laptop - I'm just looking for an idea of what kind of specs I need. Thanks!!
