I keep getting the notice "Display driver AMD has stopped responding and has recovered" and then my computer freezes up. I tried troubleshooting this thing myself by googling directions, but I think it is way beyond my abilities. Any simple suggestions? Thanks.

The maximum temperature for your CPU is 74C, yours is running at 90C.  It is averaging 95C.

One of the error in the Event Viewer indicates a problem with your CPU.

You can try blowing out the tablet to reduce the temperature.  But with the temperatures I'm seeing you may have damaged the CPU.

Ugh. If the CPU is permanently damaged, can it be fixed/replaced inexpensively?

What is the make and model of this computer?

If the CPU is mounted in a integrated circuit socket you should be able to replace the CPU.  But I suspect the CPU is soldered directly to the motherboard.  If this is the case you would need to replace the motherboard.  Once I know what the make and model are I can provide you with more information.

Please post the model.  HP has built a lot of Pavilions.

There should be a sticker on the bottom of the tablet which will include the model of this computer.

The CPU is soldered to the motherboard.  You will need to replace the motherboard if the CPU is damaged.  That will cost about $150., then you would need to have a tech install it if you can not do this yourself.

Try blowing out the case with a canned duster.  Blow through the side vent/s first, then briefly through the intake on the bottom.  See if the temperature goes down.

You are operating this on a solid surface, right?

Yes, I am. But I don't have a canned duster on hand. And the weather makes it difficult to travel today. I will get one ASAP. Thank you for all your help!

Let me guess, the weather related problem is snow?
