USB STICK INFECTED

Hi all i am a student............this morning i write a document and put it to my usb stick and 2hrs ago i put my usb stck and in the corner of windows in the tray icons something say "installing drivers.." but in the autoplay a strange name appeared...... open that and i found some items with strange name too........ i scanned it with avast that said some items cannot be scanned......i formatted the J: drive(USB STICK LETTER).Help me it's some viruses?
