Hello all.

Not sure if i've posted in the right section with my problem.

A couple of months ago i installed YAC. Now, i want to uninstall it ha ha..but i can't! Went to programs and features, then uninstall or change  a program. It's not there! So, i go to my drive, Programme Filesx86 (i run Windows 8) and lo and behold it's not there either. So i do some googling and find out that it's under a file by the name of Elex-tech. Back to Programme Filesx86 and lo and behold there it is. I right click on this folder to delete it. Not a chance. I get a message come up that says: Folder Access Denied. You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder. God help us! I am the administrator. So, i ask the IT guy at work if he has any suggestions. He points me in Bleeping Computers direction and the ADW Cleaner and to also try Norton Power Eraser. ADW picks the file up but does not remove it. Norton Power Eraser didn't find anything. He is now talking about reformatting (whatever that is). Is that necessary? Anybody have any solutions for my problem?

Thank you in advance

There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/

  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • Do not reboot until instructed.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.

When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.
Post it in your next reply.

NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

NOTE Do NOT wrap your logs in "quote" or "code" brackets.

1. did you check if there is an uninstall file in the yac directory?

2. did you try contacting yac support?

3. if you just want to get rid of the directory did you:

A. check running processes and kill it (task manager)

B. take ownership of the directory (takeown /f)

C. open explorer in elevated mode (just being an admin does not give you admin rights nowadays, right click run as admin)

D. then try to delete it

OK, I will try to explain better step by step, sorry

3A. If killing the process does not work from task manager, try this.

go to menues in the task manager and choose select columns. Check PID (PID Process identifier). Click OK and make note of the PID of the unwanted process.

Open command prompt as administrator:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc947813(v=ws.10).aspx

(you are now in commando prompt elevated mode)

then in the command prompt type:

taskkill /f /PID <the PID of the process>

make sure the process does not come back, that you have succeeded to kill it. if there are several processes they could start up each other. Check in task manager.

3B. take ownership of the files by typing following in the elevated command prompt you opened: takeown /f <filename or folder>

you may need to answer Y on confirmations

3C. In your elevated commando prompt type: explorer

this opens the file explorer in the elevated mode

now delete the files as usual by selecting and pushing shift + Delete buttons

hope this helps.
