About an hour ago I went through the automated guide as described at How to remove spywarequake but the icon in the system tray is still there.

As suggested I have coped the contents from my task.txt file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Nathan

Hi Nathan and welcome to Bleepingcomputer.

Thanks for letting us know about this - it's the newest variant of SpywareQuake. I checked it out and the tool (smitrem) was updated this morning at 04:46 AM to remove that variant. I would like you to remove any old versions of smitrem or Roguescanfix and download newer ones from the same links - then repeat the instructions and hopefully it should be removed. Of course if the problem remains just let me know and we can try to get it fixed for you.

David
