Ok, I have spyware quake maleware. I have followed every guide I have seen to delete it. It will not go away. Spyware quake itself is gone. However, the Popup that starts in your taskbar still comes up. The popup that says your affected and blah blah. It even boots up in Safemode. I cannot find out what this file is called or what its startup name is, So i cannot get rid of it. Anyhelp or ideas would be awesome.

I have used most if not all the guides out there.

Programs used
Roguescanfix
smitfruad
fixsq
killbox
smitrem
Process explorer

try downloading hijackthis, here's the link http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/hijackthis.php go there and download it. click system scan with logfile as seen here http://img221.imageshack.us/my.php?image=help6ck.jpg then copy and paste the info in the log file to here. The techs will then help you analyzle the info. To copy and paste drag your mouse over the text after clicking once at the begining of the log file. then hit ctrl-c. Once you reach the forums, post a reply by using ctrl-v.

hijackthis will most like be able to detect this one also. Just download it off the link i gave you then follow the rest of the instructions. It is a free program by the way. Also do you have any anti-spyware programs?

your hijackthis log appears to be clean. I would like you to download and install spybot search & destroy if you do not alrdy have it. It will help clean up spyware and annoyances. This program is also free.

Avg, ad-aware, spybot. along with the other programs I mentioned.

Have you ever heard of ultimate defender? I did some searching and so far I have found nothing to indictate that its an actual malware program. I suppose it could have just been a specific site pop-up. Lemme know what you think.

I will boot into safe mode and Run spybot and Ad-aware with the vx2*i think its call*

I will check this post as soon as its finished

ultimate defender appears to be a form of spyware calling itself an anti-spyware program. This type of program may have displayed a pop-up to ask you to buy it. Check your control panel for installed programs and see if it is installed, if so remove it. The only defender i know of is windows defender for windows service pack 2.

Hijack This needs to be installed directly on your root drive (usually C:), not on your desktop or in any temp file, and the log posted in our Hijack This forum here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/posthjtlog.html

Do not attempt to use Hijack This yourself unless you are expert at the registry because if you make an error you can fatally injure your operating system.

Include the specs for your computer (ie, processor, amount of RAM, brand or motherboard, etc, and briefly describe the problem you are experiencing.)

After you post your log please do not attempt any other fixes and please do not do anything that changes what is shown in the HJT log you posted.
Making changes or attempting fixes will make the HJT log you posted inaccurate and will waste the limited amount of time our HJT experts have when they analyze your log and formulate the repairs to your registry necessary to address your malware infection.

Do not take advice about your HJT log from anyone who is not authorized by bleepingcomputer to reply to HJT log entries.

I see we have three different Hijackthis logs posted in this thread. Those of you asking for help need to post your logs in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis Forum, not here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts.

Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post the log along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. Please include the top portion of the HijackThis log that lists version information. An expert will analyze your log and reply with instructions advising you what to fix

Also, before posting your logs please read and follow all instructions in the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log".

Doing this will avoid confusion and ensure each one of you gets individual help from a trained HJT Team expert.

Thanks all for your cooperation.

Edit: I have also moved this topic to a more appropriate forum.
