I have a computer that was working fine on internet last week.  Lost internet and the nic card reads ethernet connection not valid.  Any suggestions, I have tried about all of the malware search engines and found nothing.

Have you considered the possibility that the NIC card is bad?

Are you using a plug-in NIC or is this the one built into the motherboard? If it's the MB port then a plug-in card might be the quickest and easiest solution.

Start -> control panel -> device manager

what does it say about your NIC - no yellow triangles, when you check properties it says that it's installed and working properly?

Keep us posted
