I am looking into replacing my "standard" VGA video card with an HDMI video card.

I know that HDMI carrier both video and sound.

If I do install the HDMI card, will the sound still come out of my computer speakers and would I need to make some adjustments? Right now I have a computer speaker system plugged into the green "port" on the back of my PC.  The input on the speaker system is the same as that on a set of headphones...

Sound will still work through the headphones, you may have to change the audio playback settings if it defaults to the HDMI playback option after installing the new card. The easiest way to do this is to right click on the speaker icon near your clock in the right corner and then click "Playback Devices" from there you can make the default device which ever you want to you.
