I cannot get this Windows Build 7601 to go away.  I have tried to the rearm suggestions and it did work once, but now its back and when I try to rearm, I get an error message saying rearm attempts have reached its limits.  I no longer have the original software as I have moved several times but the copy is authentic.

Your running a windows machine that is authenticated with KMS activated. KMS activation is only used on large organisations. If the machine is not part of a large network (25+ computers and 8 servers) then this machine is classified as counterfit. Now you may or may not know this, a lot of people fall victim to these false OS activation, if you bought this license from someone then it is counterfeit and you need to contact the person who sold it to you for a refund or a valid key.

My laptop was issued by my job so I guess that would classify it as being part of a large network.  I use this computer to work from home and have been for over a year now and this message just started popping up about three months ago.

That would be most likely be the reason for the KMS activation. In this situation you need to contact your work for the network admin to look at the issue for you.

You need to rejoin your Windows domain to regain your enterprise licensing. Your company's Help Desk staff should be able to assist you with this.
