Hi Guys you've always been helpful whenever I run into an issue and once again I have. For the last couple of days web pages have been freezing randomly and I don't know what's causing it. Chrome keeps giving me the "kill this page" message.

I'd try running scans on the computer

Please boot your computer into safemode before running the scans

Run:

1. TDSS Killer

2. Rkill

2. JRT

4. Adwcleaner (I run this so far into the process because it always makes your computer restart once it removes something)

5. Malwarebytes

6. Full Virus Scan ( I generally use AVG Free )

Its odd how many things are caused by viruses.

You can also...

1. Download the latest windows updates

2. Update your Java and Flash Players

3. Download the latest graphic drivers

4. Re-install both chrome and firefox

If I think of anything else I'll post

Edited to remove a not allowed program  and link

Thank you for the reply....

I have Avast anti-virus (free), ran a scan several times and everything came out OK. I have Clean Up (cleans up old files, dumps trash, deletes cookies, etc), I have Update Checker (it does the obvious...LOL), I have Auslogic Registry Cleaner and I also have Malwarebytes....now I don't know if this might be an issue or not but I used to have the free version of Malwarebytes. When the problem started of course I started to do all of my full scans and noticed that my free version had expired about 7 days prior, so I opted in for the paid version and ran a scan which of course found some issues and fixed them but the problems have beeen getting worse. Now Chrome intermittenly stops loading and asks me to kill the program (this is happening when I'm just opening it up). Freezing of the webpages is increasing and a new problem started two days ago. I left my computer and I have it set to go into sleep mode after 5min. of no activity but once the day before yesterday and once yesterday I came back to wake up the pc and it was completely off. No one touches this computer but me, so I don't know why or how this could have happened. Any thoughts?

Hi

From the first sticky for this and most forums.

Announcement: No DDS, OTL, HijackThis, or ComboFix logs should be posted in this forum.

As some of you may or may not know, we have a section of the forums for assistance with malware known as the "Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs" forum. This is the only forum in which HijackThis Logs, DDS logs, OTL, and other malware removal logs should be posted.

Since there seems to be an indication of Malware I am Moving this thread to the Am I Infected forum. If You have run Combofix, Please let me know and I shall move it to the only forum where Combofix is allowed and ask for help as this is a old problem.

If You have not run Combofix, Please do not as it is a powerful tool and should only be run under the supervision of a trained Malware Specialist in the proper forum.

Good Luck

Roger

You can run your anti virus and anti malware and still be infected. The tools this site offers can help you, but... I'd go to the forum as rotor listed before using them. I've used their tools on countless family member computers and they just simply worked, had no issues, but... in your case and for the sake of the team that does the programming for these programs, I'd hope that someone else chimes in to help.

To put it simple, im just a "I do a bunch of things and they just happen to work" type of person, im in no way an expert on removal. Sorry I can't really help much past my original post.

G'day, ....lets have a closer look.

1. get rid of ...  Auslogic Registry Cleaner. Registry Cleaners do more harm than good, and are generally regarded as being a part of the 'snake oil' category...

2.   Malwarebytes (MBAM) the free version does not 'expire'. Ever.

3.  I am glad you have installed the paid version.....that is definitely a step in the right direction.

Run these in the order listed please.

Download Security Check by Screen317 from HERE
* Save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
Note: If a security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.
    Checkmark the following checkboxes:
    Flush DNS
    Report IE Proxy Settings
    Reset IE Proxy Settings
    Report FF Proxy Settings
    Reset FF Proxy Settings
    List content of Hosts
    List IP configuration
    List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
    List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.
Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
 * Double-click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
 * Vista / Windows 7 / 8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
 * Click on the Scan button (only once)
 * AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
 * After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
* Check the removals and see if you are OK with the list.

* Now
 * Click on the Clean button (only once)
 * Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
 * Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
 * After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
 * Copy and Paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.

* A copy of all logfiles are also saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

Then...

Please download Junkware Removal Tool by Thisisu

Open your browser and go to Downloads, then click on the Junkware Removal Tool to install it.

Click on Run to initiate the installation.

To avoid potential conflicts, Temporarily Disable your Antivirus

You may want to be offline when you do this.

Run the tool by double-clicking it.

If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select Run as Administrator.

The tool will open and start scanning your system.

Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.

On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Copy and Paste this in your next post..

and at this time Chrome needs to be RESET.

Resetting your browser settings will reset the unwanted changes caused by installing other programs. However, your saved bookmarks and passwords will not be cleared or changed.

Reset your browser settings:

Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
    Select Settings.
Click Show advanced settings and find the "Reset browser settings” section.
    Click Reset browser settings.
In the dialog that appears, click Reset. Note: When the "Help make Google Chrome better by reporting the current settings" checkbox is selected you are anonymously sending Google your Chrome settings. Reporting these settings allows us to analyze trends and work to prevent future unwanted settings changes.

OR......maybe better....
