Did you reinstall Windows after installing the new motherboard?

Do you have the Windows 8 installation disc?

Please post back with the make and model of your laptop, then we can advise on how to use the recovery image to restore your laptop.

Note that Microsoft will regard the fact that the motherboard has been replaced as a new, or at least different, computer and it will not authenticate automatically. You will need to make a phonecall - normally free - to your nearest MS office for authentication. If you google for it you will find their number. Since this is a repair you should have no problem getting authentication, just the inconvenience of making a phone call.

I am going to be away until about the 22nd October. Time on-line will be reduced and my internet access may be limited. PMs may not be replied to as quickly as normal !
