Single core with good performance because i want to get the most out of a game that runs off a single core.

Can be Dual Core plus but the main core needs to be extremely good!

Take your pick : Passmark single thread CPU performance

Hint: Faster Intel Core i3's have very good single thread performance for a reasonable price..  An overclocked Pentium G3258 would be another way to go.

I second this, either chip would be great. The G3258 is a really good deal. You can get a decent cooler and over clock it significantly which will add to the performance.

I have debated about getting one myself for a minecraft server.

Thanks Zingo.  One other thing with the Pentium G3258 is that officially overclocking is only supported on Z87 and Z97 chipset motherboards, which tend to be a bit pricey.  However in reality many of the cheap boards, based on for example the H81 chipset can also overclock these processors with certain BIOS installed.  Tom's Hardware has an article where this is tested.  Could make for an excellent 'bang for the buck' system.
