I cannot log onto the internet so I can't use the website link provided. I also purchased new antivirus and do not want to use AVG anymore.

1. Do you own a thumb drive/usb stick/pendrive...?

2. Do you have access to another PC ?

if the answer to both questions is "yes"....then download the required tool onto the thumb drive from the other pc,...pop the thumb drive into your pc and run it.

We are proceeding on the assumption that there are leftovers from the avg program that are causing your difficulties.

This tool will clean up anything left over and hopefully allow your pc to work as normal.

Be sure to reboot after the avg removal tool has done its job

Thanks for the tip, I did as you instructed and it did remove it and restarted the computer.

Unfortunately, it did not work.  the black box is gone but I still have the message

THE PROXY SERVER ISN'T RESPONGING

check your proxy settings 127.0.0.1.:50569

I went to Tools Internet Options Connections. If you are on  ALN click "LAN Settings" and I did that

HELP, I'M GOING NUTS   I've also read that this sometimes happens if a coupon tool bar was installed which I also did.

Ok....run the following for me.

Download Security Check by Screen317 from HERE
* Save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
Note: If a security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
 * Double-click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
 * Vista / Windows 7 / 8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
 * Click on the Scan button (only once)
 * AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
 * After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
* Check the removals and see if you are OK with the list.

* Now
 * Click on the Clean button (only once)
 * Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
 * Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
 * After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
 * Copy and Paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.

* A copy of all logfiles are also saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

When I clicked on

Download Security Check by Screen317 from HERE

I got the security question and said to open and a white screen open with nothing on it

http://localhost:37848/continue?TiCredToken=30043&Source=WTP&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fscreen317.changelog.fr%2FSecurityCheck.exe

I did this on my laptop in hopes of saving it to my thumb drive but like I said nothing happened,

What would happen if I remove everything and reinstall windows? Will I lose everything?  After all my research, it is a virus.

Please try this.....and see if your internet connection then works...

a) Under "Tools" in the browser tool bar select "Internet Options".

B) In the "Internet Options" Window that pops up, click the "Connections" tab at the top.

c) Click "LAN Settings" near the bottom of the "Connections" section.

d) If the "Proxy server" checkbox is marked with a check, click it to deselect/uncheck it.

e) Click "Ok" to close the "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" window.

f) Click "Ok" to close the "Internet Options" Window.

I tried that at least 50 times and it would revert, I finally gave up and took it to an expert.  It was a virus even though I had AVG on it, probably caused by a coupon tool bar I installed.  Luckily it didn't cost me much because he is a neighbor and I learned a lot while fixing it.

Thank you for all your help, but if anyone else has this problem, most likely it's a virus.
