Lads, I have a Pricechop 3.9 infection disguised as a "installed by company policy" Chrome extension that has spawned at least 4 more "save on" ones, and which just won't go away.
It all began as just a bunch of ads about half a year ago, but, since Saturday, its giving me stability problems, as my PC reboots itself constantly, without any apparent reason and regardless of me using that browser, another one (IE8), or none at all.
Some IT blokes I have talked to have recommended the backup-formatting routine, but I would like to use all available options before having to come down to it.
What actions have I taken so far?
1.- Uninstalled the obsolete Norton 360 software I had.
2.- Downloaded free AVG 2015, but even though it took care of a lot of infections, didn't get to this one.
3.- Uninstalled AVG and installed Kaspersky IS 2015 (30-day trial), of which I intend to get a full license if it takes care of this adware. Haven't run a full scan yet.
What can I do? I hope it's not that big of a deal, but I'm truly concerned for my HD content, mainly ALL my tax records, my rather extensive ebook library, and my e-banking info.
