Greetings all

I have been working with computers for most of my life. I suppose I have become somewhat cavalier about them. I have joined the forum in search of help for a mind-nubming combination of malware that one of my teenage sons clicked into our world.

My experience with PCs goes back to an IBM running PC-DOS 2.x on 8088 processor with 2 5-1/4" floppies, and 256K of RAM - no hard drive at all. That was not exactly a good experience, but it dates me I suppose.

I have also worked extensively with UNIX servers and desktops, mostly Sun, which is perhaps why I find this whole virus fighting thing irritating. We just didn't spend a lot of time on that. There were different battles to fight.

Today I own a couple of nice Dell PCs, the one I am speaking from now and another one which is in deep do do. I will take that up on a different forum. However, I am not sure how I will get info from the sick puppy to the forum since part of the side effect of its infection is to disable my network interface and not allow me to rebuild it. But I get ahead of myself.

Again, my greetings to you all and thanks (in advance) for your attitude of community service.

Hi donindallas,

I can relate to your beginnings. The "green screen" displays were awesome way back then.

For your malware battles, you can use our removal guide to find what you need and then burn needed files to cd or memory key.

Good luck and Welcome to BleepingComputer!
