My windows fire wall wont start Ive tried starting it in services and the action center but no luck, i know their might be a hardware change or virus or malware that has done this but im unable to pin point it the date of any change because Ive only just realized that the firewall was off because i wanted to block a game from accessing the Internet. Ive scanned countless times but it says its clean.  Also windows update wont install updates and system recovery doesn't work...Ive been trying to follow instructions that have been given to other people but with no luck, any help will be appreciated.

my PC:

OptiPlex 760 (Late 2008)

Service Tag: 5M0YJ4J Express Service Code: 12215778643

32 bit operating system win 7 home premium

many thanks

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  When  FileHippo opens, click on Download latest version in the upper right pane.

Did you use the instructions I posted to open Services?  Or did you use msconfig and click on the Services tab?

You need to edit out your service tags.

If you look at the bottom of the page where you see MultiQuote and Quote, if you move the pointer off to the left of MultiQuote you will see Edit.

Click on Edit, when this page opens highlight the service tags and then delete them.  You don't want to make this information available to the public.

I need you to answer my questions in post #5.

And those two services are not there?

Please run System File Checker

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Click on the Start orb and then type cmd in the Search programs and files box.

In the pane above the search box Programs will appear with cmd below it, right click on cmd and choose Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, enter the password, or click Allow.

A page similar to the one below will open.

elevatedcommandpromptw7_zpseba8c499.png

Type in sfc /scannow and then press Enter to start the scan.  Please notice the space between sfc and the /scannow.

If the scan finds no integrity  problems in the first portion of the scan it should stop, to be sure that the scan has stopped wait five minutes, then type in exit and press Enter to stop the scan.

When the scan is finished please post the log of this scan.

To find sfc /scannow log, type cmd in the Search programs and files box.

cmd will appear above the search box under Apps., right click on it and choose Run as administrator, this will open the Elevated Command Prompt.  This will look simlar to the image above.

Copy and paste the following in the Search programs and files box, then press Enter.

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

This will place a new icon on the desktop titled sfcdetails.  Click on this to open the log, copy it and paste it in your topic.

If there are no integrity violations a log will not be generated.

Try doing a system restore.  Choose a restore point prior to this problem.
