I just downloaded the MBAM anti-malware program from this website and just want to know whether it offers real time protection or should I be buying the premium version? Is there any way to buy the version that you only had to pay for once or is only the yearly subscription one available now?

thanks for your time.

Yes...a 14-day trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium is available as a pre-selected default option when first installing the free version (regardless of where you download) so all users can test the real-time protection component/features for a period of two weeks. When the limited time period expires those features will be deactivated and locked. Enabling the Protection Module feature again requires registration and purchase of a license key. If you continue to use the free version, there is no requirement to buy a license...you can just use it as a stand-alone scanner. Users who have previously completed the trial will not be prompted to start the trial upon upgrade or reinstallation.

If you click on the "Try a 14 day trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium" at the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium product page) you will be directed to this Start Trial page. Just click the "Start 14-Day Trial" button to begin the download and full protection will be available for 14 days. There is no separate download.

With the launch of 2.0, well also be moving to a subscription licensing model, $24.95 per year...The subscription model will help us to be sustainable for the future while staying true to our roots that we will always make malware cleanup free for everyone.

We will continue to honor existing lifetime licenses, meaning any users that already have a lifetime license for 1.x will continue to have a lifetime license for 2.0. We'll also be offering a few thousand more lifetime licenses at some point soon as a special offer, so keep an eye out! On top of all of that, new subscription licenses will be valid for 3 PCs, not just 1.

Introducing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0

Can I buy a lifetime license of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium?

With the switch to a subscription license model, Malwarebytes will not be selling any more lifetime licenses. The new subscription model allows you to protect up to three PCs with one license...

What does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 mean for me?

Why is Malwarebytes now charging an annual license fee for its products?

As more and more people have come to rely on us for malware protection and cleanup, our costs in bandwidth, hosting fees, infrastructure, salaries of our researchers, QA department, and more have grown immensely. Though our company is about more than just making money, we are a company and we do have to make money to pay our staff to continue doing what they love, which is fight malware. The subscription model will help us to be sustainable for the future while staying true to our roots that we will always make malware cleanup free for everyone (in our free version).
