HP Pavilion Entertainment PC

Windows 8

My laptop keeps trying to do windows updates and seems to succeed but then I get this message:

"Failure configuring Windows updates

Reverting changes

Do not turn off  your computer"

The laptop seems to be downloading updates and then uninstalls them is what I am seeing.

This is very frustrating not to mention a bandwidth hog.  I've tried different things like disk cleanup, defrag. disk error checks. Nothing seems to fix it. After it finishes taking out all changes, it starts downloading updates again.

Anyone know what is happening?
