I can access plenty of web sites but not yahoo.com or google.com with either Chrome, IE or Firefox. This morning there was an update to Chrome, firefox, & flash. I was able to access google after those updates. This morning I did look at the BlackHat conference web site & started to download a video (which I cancelled before the download finished) which is about all I did. Then all of a sudden cannot access google or yahoo. When I try to access yahoo or google in chrome, I see the "resolving host" message at the bottom of the chrome browser. I flushed DNS but problem still here. I will run Malwarebytes while waiting for an answer. What else should I do?

[Note that I did not yet install the multitude of WIndows updates that came out today. Want to fix this problem first.]

UPDATE:

Suddenly I can now access google and yahoo. I made NO change to my system. Malwarebytes found nothing.

My ISP is Frontier Comm. via DSL. Perhaps the resolving problem was at their end?  I may never know.....

It probably was that they ran maintenance.. See if it happens again.

How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook

Frontier had an announcement this morning that its users had no access to Yahoo mail. Can someone explain the technical reason why this can happen? Isn't this just a matter of DNS, that is, resolving the address of mail.yahoo.com?  What am I missing?
