First off I have taken over the role of IT administrator for a manufacturing company. I came into this position with little to any documentation over procedures and nothing as far where all the licenses and software disks were located. Anyways, I have been here for just over a month and have been steadily building up my lists of information that I need. I am a domain administrator and have full rights within the network. Now on to my question.

I am trying to remove Trend Micro OfficesScan from a work laptop and when i go to uninstall it, it comes up saying that I need to input a password but no one knows the password and the user who had this laptop previously didn't leave anything pertaining to passwords. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what i could do to remove this?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Can you please give me a link to the general location of where you are talking about. I tried to find what you suggested but I did not see anything remotely close to what you were describing, Thank you.

i cant give you a link because you have to sign in on your portal site. The preferences tap should be on the right side, and global settings is under that tab

Your Welcome, did it work out for you?

You can also edit that registry key offline outside of windows using the Kaspersky Rescue Disk Registry Editor if you have trouble disabling the service. It works greate if you have to edit the registry when Windows does not boot or something is preventing the registry from being edited.

It did work for me although there was not a service to disable, I was able to drill down into the Registry, using the path provided in the link you sent, and change the value of the entry just like it stated in the how to and it worked perfectly. Thank you again, you saved me a lot of time.
