I'm putting together an i5 4690 with a MSI Z97 U3 Plus motherboard and I have an Antec 750 watt power supply. When I push the power button on my case nothing happens. A couple of times it turn on for half a second then die. I have a good power cord. I have the 6 pin plug into the motherboard because it won't take all 8 pins and double check my power switch which the lettering is supposed to face the outside of the board. Any suggestions?

A 6+2 pin plug?  That sounds like a PCIe connector (for a graphics card), which is wrong and won't work on the motherboard.  You have to use the ATX+12v connector.  It is often in the form of 2 x 4 pin plugs which can be joined together to make an 8 pin plug.

EDIT - snip from an Antec PSU spec sheet showing highlighting the connector you need to use:

Hi

Refer to pages 2-7 and 2-8 of the manual...

http://www.msi.com/support/mb/Z97_U3_PLUS.html#down-manual (choose your language)

for proper power cable connections.

Here is a video demonstration via YouTube...

Best of luck and Please keep BC posted!
