I have a educational software runs OK in Win98... Install it on Win7 with compatibility win98 and works... but show rare symbols like face smileys.

When runs on win98 and you press ALT codes, got

ALT+1 = ^A

ALT+2 = ^B

ALT+3 = ^C

ALT+4 = ^D

ALT+5 = ^E

but in Win7 ...

ALT+1 = ☺

ALT+2 = ☻

ALT+3 = ♥

ALT+4 = ♦

ALT+5 = ♣

I think is problem with "code page" but what to do for old windows98 code page works in windows 7, or is this something about display.sys ???

Any help... Thank you

I don't think you're having a code page problem; but, rather an issue with 7's virtualization of your program and it's intercepting of the keystrokes. What you show for all of them is sure an exact match to what the Alt-Code are supposed to be:

What is the name of the software?
Computer dinosaur, servicing PC's since 1976

Thank you for your answer, this is math pro from iTp softw...

In win7 with virtualization I can't installa license from the floppy, got error!

I install it on Win7 and works OK but smileys face are shown.

I think is possible to emulate the win98 old code page into win7.

Thank you! :D
