hi, recently when i've been starting up my new pc, for some reason the command prompt opens and then opens my google chrome, taking me to gameharbor.com. I have done research im this adware/malware, and every "solution" I have tried doesn't seem to work. my case is different from all the others, I think. other "solutions" want people to find the process in the task manager and end it, or go into the registry editor and remove it, but whenever I search for the virus, I cannot find it. in my control panel add or remove programs (windows 8.1), I do see kmspico and I feel like this may have something to do with it. i've also found a kmseldi file somewhere. please help me. im not sure what is happening, and why mine is so different from all solutions ive seen

Hello! Welcome to BleepingComputer Forums! :welcome:
My name is Georgi and and I will be helping you with your computer problems.

Before we begin, please note the following:

  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
  • Stay with the topic until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.
  • Instructions that I give are for your system only!
  • Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.
  • Please perform all steps in the order received. If you can't understand something don't hesitate to ask.
  • Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. I will not help you if you do not follow my instructions.

I need fresh logs so please download the latest version of Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Regards,

Georgi

Have a nice day!

Hello,

Please go ahead and uninstall iSafe from the Control Panel. Also I would recommend you to purchase a valid key for Windows!

Also I don't see the CMD startup entry in the logs. Are you sure you didn't disabled it via msconfig?

Please download the following file => and save it to the Desktop.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your reply.

  • Next Please download AutoRuns and save it to your desktop.
  • Right click on the downloaded file and choose Extract All Files.
  • Once extracted, open the program named Autoruns.
  • Click on Options and then Hide Microsoft and Windows Entries.
  • Press F5 to refresh the startup list.
  • Next go to File -> Save and choose the file type to Text File (.arn).
  • Please zip the file and upload it here => http://zippyshare.com/ and then post the link to the archive in your next reply.

Regards,

Georgi

Hi,

Did you miss the other part of my previous post? I need to see the fixlog, txt as well.

Also I don't see any remnants from the CMD in the Autoruns too.

Please click Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select "run as administrator".
Copy/paste the following text at the command prompt and press enter after it:

reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg"  > %userprofile%\Desktop\startupreg.txt & start notepad %userprofile%\Desktop\startupreg.txt

Please post the results in your next reply.

Regards,

Georgi

sorry about that. here is the fixlist.

I'm sorry for all of the trouble.

when i ran the command prompt as admin and pasted that, i hit enter and then a blank notepad file titled "startupreg.txt" came up. the command prompt says this "the system was unable to find the specified registry key or value"

i tried replacing %userprofile% with %Brody% and then it said "the system cannot find the path specified"

i'm not sure what is wrong

Hello,

You posted fixlist.txt instead of the fixlog.txt?

Also please re-run FRST (make sure that Addition.txt is ticked before you press the Scan button) and then attach both logs to your next reply.

Regards,

Georgi
