Everyday I get spam mail.  It is usually using the first part of my email address.  I spoke to ATT and they said to change my password. (I have done that about 3 times now) and still it comes.  They said to send the spam to abuse@att....... and I've done that.  It still keeps coming.

What should I do next, change my email address?  Forward to Hotmail or gmail?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Im not expert on this, but I believe after years of owning a unique address,  what you describe is almost impossible to avoid. Every morning I wake up to the offers of free burial insurance quotes. I did create a list of keywords to block emails containing those words. Helped a bit.
