My client has XP pro, it has been working fine for a few years, the other day he could not print, open files over the network, and his sound stopped working.

After a bunch of time figuring out what was wrong and finally came to realize that a number of services that were set as automatic are not starting at boot. One of these - the workstation service - was preventing the network access.

avast is the antivirus, I've run malwarebytes, combofix, and I got a hijack this log.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Since you seem to suspect malware, please follow the procedures specified at Preparation Guide, Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html, following Steps 6-8.

Post the new topic in the forum reflecting the Prep Guide (not here).

Thanks :).

Louis
