I was using the Yrjie removal guide for IE, following the processes when I got to the ComboFix step.

Using the link to d/l the software, I double-clicked the .exe file to get a message stating the following:

This operating system is not supported!

ComboFix only runs on:

*Windows XP (32 bit)

*Windows Vista (32/64 bit)

*Windows 7 (32/64 bit)

*Windows 8 (32/64 bit)

Windows 2000 is no longer supported.

I was surprised as 8.1 has been out for over a year now!

If anyone knows a workaround, that would be great, otherwise I'm stuck at that step.

This program does not work on Windows 8.1 at this time!

If you attempt to use ComboFix on Windows 8.1, it should provide a message alert: ComboFix is not meant to run in 'Compatibility Mode' and exit. This message is intentional by design when attempting to run ComboFix on that operating system.

sUBs has advised that he is holding off releasing any working version of his tools for Windows 8.1 which includes both ComboFix and DDS. Meaning he is fully aware of the compatibility issue but needs time for thorough testing to ensure they work safely on that OS. As such, no release date has been provided.
