Hello guys, as some of you may know, I recently built my computer and had some issues with the display drivers due to a faulty video card. After I found a remedy for that, my experience with my new PC has been pretty good. But one thing that has bothered me from the start is that after the boot up, my screen will temporarily go black (around 3- 10 seconds) then I get the log in screen. After inputting my password, I get the Welcome screen, which takes from 10 - 30 seconds some days. It may not seem like a lot, but I don't have many processes running at the start up and I also have an 8-core processor. Below are my specs:

MoBo: Gigabyte 970A-UD3P
CPU: AMD-FX8320 8 core processor
RAM: Corsair Vengence 8GB DDR3 RAM (2x4GB) operating at Dual Channel
Graphics Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB DDR5 Double Dissipation edition
Storage: Seagate 1TB HDD
Optical: Samsung DVD Writer
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit

MSConfig:

I'll also upload a video once I restart

EDIT: Here's the video

The loading times seems normal including the switching on video screen display.

Try using the Selective Startup feature as shown in the image in General tab in MSconfig. Hit Apply and reboot if required. Please check the difference.

I would uncheck every single one of those processes in the msconfig startup.

None of them need to run in the background and they'd slow your bootup a fair bit, but they'd also slow down your computer while it's running, a bit like always having 4 extra passengers in your car.

Tried both of your suggestions, bootup was slightly quicker but the welcome screen still took pretty long to load. Don't understand why with the specs I have. I've worked with other PCs with low end specs and loads of services and applications that start when Windows starts and the Welcome screen appears for about 2 seconds then it goes to the desktop. Kinda frustrating really.
EDIT: Video after using the suggestions

Also, I increased the number of processors used during boot up.

Welcome screen still takes too long to reach the desktop

Well, you came to the right place.

One of the measures I use when I am tweaking and/or fixing a computer, is the bootup time.

I spend more time counting seconds that I'd care to admit to.

So, allow me to tell you what I know and I'd like to ask a few questions.

1) Your total bootup time is pretty decent, but as you have pointed out, it takes too long when you get to the Welcome Screen.

Of that, there is no doubt.

2) The flicker and the long Welcome Screen, appear to be associated with your graphics card. I suggest you try any other driver than the one you are now using, be it newer or older.

3) Are you overcloking this machine?

4) How long has it been since you last installed a fresh copy of Windows onto this machine?

5) Would you mind giving us screenshots of EVERY process running, right after bootup?

6) Which AV program are you using, if any?

All is well in Paradise.

I'm using the latest driver atm, I had a defective video card and replaced it August as stated in this thread:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/544156/black-screen-after-boot/#entry3446089

3) Are you overclocking this machine?

No, figured I don't to void the warranty

4) How long has it been since you last installed a fresh copy of Windows onto this machine?

Installed Windows once, around the end August

5) Would you mind giving us screenshots of EVERY process running, right after bootup?

Will do once I reboot.

6) Which AV program are you using, if any?

I used Avast for a while then I got MBAM Premium and I figured I didn't need Avast anymore since MBAM does the same things, except better. I know it's anti-malware not anti-virus, but I end up using MBAM in the end

Do you remember if the problem existed with the old GPU, or was it completely defective, like it didn't work at all?

If you can try any other GPU driver, it might help.

That flickering has GPU written all over it, like it's setting itself.

As already mentioned, the boot process looks fine from login to desktop. The icons populating or setup could be a factor in the slight delay loading of your desktop. Can you revert to the icons to default setup and check the difference? There could also be startup programs or software running in the background that is not needed during loading desktop.

Download Autoruns and save it to your computer.
Unzip or extract Autoruns and a new folder would appear, double click autoruns and go to File - Save - Filename : Autoruns
Save as type : Text. Copy and Paste the text report in your next reply.

Install free Microsoft Security Essentials which is a lightweight protection software.

Post a snapshot of your speccy report. To post and publish a snapshot of your PC.
. In the Menu bar, click File -> Publish Snapshot
. Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
. On your next reply, right-click on a empty space and click Paste on reply box then click Post.

I would recommend not to use any other msconfig feature as of this time specially the Boot tab.

That looks fine? It's obviously taking way too long.

The time it takes for the Welcome Screen to reach my desktop is just as slow, if not slower with the unchecked items
