Hello

I have been for some time seeing an annoying icon flashing up in my toolbar on start up. It is only there for a fraction of a second and too quick to click on. It appears to be a blue square with what appears to be a white laptop with a white blob in the middle. Can anyone help solve the mystery, confirm if this should be appearing and if not how I go about getting rid of it. It appears around 2 mins 22 seconds after start up. I have tried attaching the video to show you but I cant seem to upload videos here

If you could help that would be great

Instructions for using Process Explorer by Windows Sysinternals.
  • Download and save Process Explorer to your Desktop.
  • Create a new folder on your hard drive called Process Explorer (C:\Process Explorer) and extract (unzip) the file there.
  • Double-click on procexp.exe to open the program.
  • Using your mouse, click on and hold down the "gunsight" (Find Window's Process) icon in the top toolbar.

  • Process Explorer disappears, and your cursor icon is in Find Window's Process mode.
  • Drag the cursor over to the popup window and release the mouse button.
  • The process to which this windows belongs is highlighted in Process Explorer.

Not a problem.

I have encountered users who have reported an unknown phantom process (no name) related to a flashing white icon or blue box with a small white square that briefly appears in the Taskbar. The icon first appears during startup, then reappears every 15 minutes for one or two seconds and will show up one last time when the computer is shutting down. This phantom process was traced to HP-related processes like hpcmpmgr.exe and hptskmgr.exe. Disabling/unchecking hpcmpmgr.exe from the system startup list kept the icon flash from appearing again. You may be able to do the same with Toshiba.

Good luck.
