Mod Edit:  Split from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/544384/laptop-wont-start-i-just-get-a-black-screen-with-the-mouse-cursor-on-it/ - Hamluis.

We are now having this problem with our Toshiba PSC16A-006011 which is now discontinued.

Where can I find out how to obtain a boot disk please?
I'm not happy to be paying Toshiba $66 to start with a question.

Thanks :)

Thanks Hamluis, I should have mentioned in my post above - I have tried all that was suggested in this thread to no avail, hence my question :)

Thanks for the new thread Hamlius & my apologies for the delay in acknowledging this.

We're still having issues with this. I'm told it's corrupt and since I don't have any disks as it's a second hand computer from a now closed computer store :exclame:  I guess my only option is to take it to a repair person and get the photos off it and buy a new computer?

I appreciate your advice.

Cath :)

I guess the message is NEVER buy a secondhand computer or laptop without the start-up/recovery disks :oopsign:

Do you still have the product keys sticker which is usually found at the bottom of your laptop?

How to retrieve or recover files using Puppy Linux?

Hi BC Advisor, yes we do.

I've had a quick look at the links you mentioned above. Will get back on here if it doesn't work (in the middle of cooking dinner lol).

Back soon with results. & Thank you
