If your concern is it legit or not...it is legit. Not a security update, though.

If uninstalling the update doesn't improve performance, you could try using Windows Repair (All In One) Download.

I suggest you run the repair noted in Option #4 as well as the other repairs.

 

It is suggested you first check for malware/ adware before running the repairs.

Run scans using these programs.
