Hi everyone,

I just recently installed WIN 7 Professional and I can't figure out how to access internet. I am currently plugged in wired on a proven connection but the laptop does not have access. Under device manager it shows I am missing the following things

Other Devices

  • Ethernet Controller
  • Network Controller
  • PCI Device
  • SM Bus Controller
  • Universal Serial Bus Controller.

Any idea how to get any of these working without being able to access internet on the laptop?

Hi,

You did not specify Make, Model so I cannot direct you by links.

If it is a homebuilt system Visit the Motherboard Manufacturers website.

Otherwise, visit the System Manufacturers website and download the drivers there.

Make sure you select 32bit or 64bit depending on your Windows 7 installation.

You will need access from another system, like the one you are posting from, and a thumb drive to save and transfer the files.

Lots of luck and Please jeep BC posted.

It's a HP 15-g001sx

Processor: AMD E1-2100 APU with Radeon™ Hd Graphics

It's a 64 bit.

I'm sorry but I'm still a little confused on how to get these drivers onto this laptop. Do I put the file on a usb and run them on the new laptop?

Did you install from the recovery partition?

If yes is there a link in your start menu for additional Drivers and Software installation?

If not make a folder on your desktop of the system you are posting from, name it: HPDrivers

Now visit...

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=6837244#N543

Download Qualcomm Atheros QCA9000 Series Wireless LAN Driver (Network) save it to the HPDrivers folder on your desktop.

The exact filename is SP66873.exe

There is a how to install guide for each, if you need it.

This is the only one necessary for now.

Grab a blank CD-R or CD-RW and burn the file to the disc.

Place the disk into the HP and using Windows Explorer browse to the CD Drive and double click SP66873.exe to install Wireless Capabilities to your HP.

Once you have a wireless connection, download and install security software. (Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG Free, AVIRA Free Etc.*)

*These are only suggestions not recommendations

You can then follow the link I gave you and download / install the rest of the drivers and software directly to the HP laptop.

Then visit and revisit the Microsoft update site and get all updates from there.

Lots of luck and Please keep BC posted.
