windows failure to config updates

Hello all.......I need some help getting the "windows failure to configure updates fixed. I have have run the windows repair tool and yet I still cannot get the updates to run. The screen will sit for hours with the message" cannot configure updates, reverting changes, do not turn off computer. I am able to restart press F9 and to get  use system restore to get by this. But the problem is windows will restart in 2 days get new updates and I have to reapeat the process to get beyond it..  Running windows 8.............................Thanks 4 any help

Figured it out guys...................I read some other simiar post about probs ppl  had getting updates installed. I ran sfc/scanow, it found and corrected a couple of issues. I rebooted and it installed 118 updates and all is good. This site is awesome, for not only getting help, but good self help also..........Thanks :bubbles: :guitar:
