Hi guys,

it's the first time I am posting here. I really hope I can get some piece of advice as I've been wanderig between one site and the other in search of an medium high end laptop that I will need for college.

I will be using this mainly for college 3rd year so will be running couple of vm at the time. Some daily browsing/music.video and occasionally playing some games.

This is the one that I'd like to get

http://www.ggsdata.se/index-en.php

Style-Note W650SZ-4710
Description,
W650SZ
(15.6" Full HD IPS) - Intel Mobile HM86 Lynx Point-M - Intel Core i7 Quad-Core Mobile - Intel® HD Graphics 4600
2.50 GHz (3.50 GHz) Core™ i7-4710MQ, 8192MB HyperX 1600MHz, 120GB Kingston mSATA Solid-State Drive, 15.6" Full HD IPS Panel (1920x1080), Gigabit LAN, WiFi 802.11ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, 2.0M camera. Weight: 2.5 kg (with battery).
Operating system installed: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop Edition (64-bit).

All this looks pretty neat to me except for:

- intel graphics card -> Looking at the benchmark it looks really crap compared to amd radeon and the nvidia. How bad/good is this graphics card? Any personal experience?

- 120GBssd will I run out after installing 3 vm?

The other would be either this one:

http://www.dabs.ie/products/lenovo-g510-intel-core-i7-4700mq-8gb-1tb-15-6--windows-8-1-9DN9.html?refs=57980000-54600000&src=3

+ price €736.48, storage 1tb

- OS, graphics card ? Unknown?

or this one:

http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/lenovo-z5070-156-laptop-white/318257/104.12

+ Hard drive: 1 TB SSHD, dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT820M (2 GB DDR3), price €729.99

- major one Windows 8.1,

In all this I need to add that I am on the way to do the big switch and go with a linux laptop as really cannot stand W8 and those stupid tiles.

I will appreciate if you can give me some piece of geek advice.

If you have the cash as an IT student, that is a plan. When I was there, I was browsing refurbished laptops, example:

Here: http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/st/refurbished-laptops

or here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100017489%204016&IsNodeId=1&Tpk=refurbished%20laptop

Cheers!
