Shift Keys not working on laptop

I have an HP G56 Notebook, and the shift keys aren't working properly. I have tried updating the driver, but am told the device is up to date, and is working properly. I have rebooted and this didn't help. The laptop is about 3 years old. Any help would be appreciated.
