Connections to akamai

Can some one explain to me why my laptop pc is connecting to akamai ? Linux is also connecting to akamai on my laptop.
When I plug in a usb to my laptop then to other pc they start connecting to akamai. Is this a malware ?

Akami is a huge web host and cloud computing corporation. They lease hosting service to thousands of companies. Many of them Fortune 500 companies. Without a little more information it's going to be impossible to know 100% if you have an issue or not. But based on the Akami identifier alone that is not enough.

Then why my friends PC is not connecting to akamai? He uses the same internet. And my pc was never connecting to akamai so I blocked them on linux and netstat shows that localhost is connecting to localhost. Is this normal ?
