Hello.

I've got some colleagues that are looking to update, develop and maintain their website.

As it sits now, it's mostly just a repository for Profiles, Mission Statements and the standard Contact Us info.

This is a company with a very specific focus - they are a U.S. based very conservative think tank that is trying to improve & influence policy for ongoing U.S. military activities.

Please note I am not here to debate the moral politics of such an agency - if you find it offensive, I apologize but please don't flame me or this attempt at gathering information.

My question is how much should they expect to be paying someone to visit their website, asses what needs to be done with it to make it more dynamic and, how much would they expect to pay to create the new content as well as maintain it?

The long term goal is to create a more dynamic website and to also create an easier way for Visitors to gather information about the organization and, specifically, create an easy and secure way for those Visitors to donate monies *** which is something this organization has never done successfully and the current Donate page is...well, it's pretty awful.

I'm not sure if this is too general of a question - like asking, "how much should I pay for a new car, or a new laptop?" The answer in those cases being, "as much as you can afford."

Are there web site companies that specialize in these types of businesses?

I would have to believe there would be, esp. in light of all the very specific content websites out there (humor, porn, religious, sports) but my initial Google search came up with the all too familiar list of way-too-many-options so I thought I would at least post it here, since the Bleeping Community comes from all over the U.S. as well as all over the World.

Thanks for reading and for any ideas / suggestions you might have.

Winterland

P.S. in the interest of discretion, I am not going to post the website here, but if you think you can help with this, I'll be glad to PM you any information you might need.

Every calculation based on experience elsewhere fails in New Mexico.

Based on some initial PMs, I would like to add that what I'm looking for at this point in time are bids, essentially.

Some one who has done this type of work and has examples and/or a portfolio that I could check out.

Thanks again.
