Could use some help please. My wife and I are switching ISP which also unfortunately means switching email addresses. Is there a simple way of taking the group of email messages from one account and let's say sending them to a Gmail account? Or, how about just saving them to one's computer? Thank you!

If you're using Microsoft Outlook, simply alter your account info for the new server and continue using it. You're old messages will still be there. Just in case something might go horribly wrong though, you might want to at least back up your current Outlook .PST files.
